Swedish composer/musician Folke Nikanor have released two highly praised albums 'up til now. The debut album "Bottenviken" was an instrumental, lovely set of musical pieces dedicated to his upbringing in Norrbotten (up north in Sweden). Blending cinematical compositions with pop melodies inspired both by legendary Swedish jazz pianist Jan Johansson, Swedish folk music as well as the shimmering electronic soundscapes of Kraftwerk and Daft Punk.
The second album "Rymden enligt Folke Nikanor" can be translated as "The space according to Folke Nikanor" and like that title says, the music was heading more towards the spacious and electronics. On that album there was two song based tracks, one was "Komet" sung by Annika Norlin (hello saferide, säkert) and for Folke Nikanor to finally collaborate with a vocalist and lyricist this really lit a flame.
So, for this album, Folke Nikanor went "all in"..
¨"Främmande" is twelve compositions written with collaborations in mind. Catchy and heartfelt pop melodies just waiting for lead vocalist to come and add their touch and magic (lyrics and vocals) to each track.
-
And it sure is an exciting guest list with both well-known and loved Swedish vocalists and new upcoming debuting Swedish artists.
The tracks are beautiful, touching, catchy, melancholic pop songs written by a composer who keeps on improving and sharpening his songwriting skills. Vinyl edition out now!

My friend introduced me to Kishi Bashi's music in highschool (2013) and ever since then I have shared this album with every close friend I've made. This album sits close to my heart and it's been so great to peel back it's layers over the years. Christina
